The American International School of Johannesburg ("AISJ", "we", "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA) of South Africa.

1. Information we collect

When you place an order on the AISJ Shop, we collect:

• Purchaser details: name, email address, and (optionally) phone number.
• Child details: the child's name and (optionally) class, used to organise order collection and fulfilment.
• Order details: items purchased, donation amount, order reference, and payment status.
• Payment metadata: transaction reference returned by our payment provider (Paygate). We never see or store your card details — these are handled directly by Paygate.

2. Why we collect it

• To process and fulfil your order.
• To send you an order receipt and collection or fulfilment notification.
• To contact you about your order if needed.
• To produce internal sales, fulfilment, and finance reports.

3. Lawful basis (POPIA)

We process your information on the basis of:

• Performance of a contract — to fulfil your purchase.
• Legitimate interest — operating AISJ Shop, safeguarding transactions, and supporting order fulfilment.
• Consent — where you opt in to additional communications.

4. Sharing your information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with:

• Paygate (DPO Pty Ltd) — to process your payment.
• Our email provider — to deliver order confirmations.
• AISJ staff — authorised employees involved in shop operation, fulfilment, support, and finance.

5. Retention

We keep order and contact information for 12 months after pickup, after which it is deleted or anonymised. Aggregated, non-identifying figures (e.g. sales and fulfilment totals) may be kept indefinitely for reporting.

6. Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to:

• Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
• Request correction or deletion of your information.
• Object to processing or withdraw consent at any time.
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.

7. Security

Your information is stored on secure, access-controlled infrastructure. Access is restricted to authorised AISJ staff. Payment processing is handled by PCI-DSS compliant third parties.

8. Cookies

This site uses only essential cookies required to keep your shopping cart and login session working. We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies.
